Volunteer Information
Help us to preserve Boone County History
If you can’t afford to join our Society as a member, please consider adding your energy as a volunteer in helping to preserve Boone County’s history. There are many volunteer opportunities available and we invite you to get involved on any level you can.
Volunteers perform a broad range of duties across our museums. From greeting and assisting visitors at public programs and events, to providing baked goods for fundraisers, to grant writing or performing research, sorting and cataloging artifacts, serving food at events, doing marketing or fundraising, or conducting tours as a docent at the Mamie Doud Eisenhower Birthplace or the Boone History Center, volunteers work alongside Board members to further our mission of preserving Boone County’s history for everyone.
Each volunteer opportunity is different, with its own unique set of responsibilities, and therefore requiring its own unique mix of relevant skills and experience. No previous experience is required for many tasks, and prospective volunteers should be enthusiastic, flexible, and willing to learn new things.
