Due to the Covid-19 pandemic our museums are closed and work on adoptable collections has halted.
When this feature is available again, we will post it here. To find out more about adoptable collections, scroll down the right column.
Thank you for your understanding.
Play an important part in preserving Boone County’s heritage by “adopting” a collection of the Boone County Historical Society. All funds raised from tax-deductible adoption fees will support the preservation, storage, and management of museum artifacts. To adopt, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 515-432-1907 and leave a detailed message. It’s that easy to help preserve history in a meaningful way!
Although adoption in no way constitutes a legal claim to artifacts and all objects will remain the property of the Boone County Historical Society, adopting patrons will receive the following benefits: a certificate of adoption and a photograph of their newly-preserved collection. In addition, the patron’s name(s) will be perpetually associated with the collection and will be included in a unique exhibition credit line. Most importantly, adopting patrons will have the satisfaction of helping to preserve Boone County’s history for generations to come.
Adopt an object/collection from your favorite era, or honor a friend or family member by providing an adoption in their name. With thousands of artifacts, the Society will continue to list new items, offering many opportunities for adoption throughout the year.
